SNAPSHOT
Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love and Thunder finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.

Directed by Thor: Ragnarok helmer Taika Waititi, who also reprises his on-screen role as Korg, Thor: Love and Thunder stars Chris Hemsworth (Thor), alongside the returning Natalie Portman (Jane Foster), Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie), Jaimie Alexander (Lady Sif), Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Dave Bautista (Drax) and Sean Gunn (Kraglin), with Christian Bale (Ford v Ferrari) as Gorr the God Butcher and Russell Crowe (Man of Steel) as Zeus. He’s back!

A glorious mix of epic grandeur and slapstick hilarity, well, at least since the immensely talented Taika Waititi got his hands on the character – and thank the various gods he did! – Thor is one of those Marvel characters you really, REALLY want to spend time with.

And why would you not?

You get action and adventure, the kind on which galaxies rise and fall and evil doesn’t get away with things, you get laughs so hearty you may well fall out of your cinema seat (try not to because lord, gods, UGH yuck, who knows where that carpet’s been) and you get some hardcore emotional resonance which makes you feel glad just to have spent two hours with Thor and his cast of quirkily, idiosyncratic badasses.

The supremely good news is that we have mere weeks to wait until we are with them all again with Thor: Love and Thunder opening on 6 July in Australia and 8 July in US & UK.
