It’s exciting that we’re heading to the all-new 32nd century Starfleet Academy!
We got small glimpses of it in the criminally underrated Star Trek: Discovery but now the place that shapes and moulds future officers is going to be front and centre in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy!
Happily Mary Wiseman is back for guest appearances as Sylvia Tilly, who you might recall left Discovery to become an instructor at the reconstituted Academy after the crew of her ship saved the Federation ffrom a darkly alienating cataclysmic event.
We’re also be treated to two more Discovery alumni, Tig Naro as acerbically entertaining engineer, Jett Reno, and Oded Fehr as Charles Vance, an admiral and the commander-in-chief of Starfleet, as well as Star Trek: Voyager‘s holographic The Doctor (Robert Picardo), now 900-years-old and teaching officers in training.
The teaser trailer comes with sagely portentous narration courtesy of Holly Hunter who plays Captain Nahla Ake, the half-Lanthanite chancellor of Starfleet Academy and captain of the USS Athena and it’s a highly promising introduction to an upcoming series which is already on my “Must Watch” slate.
Star Trek: Starfleet Academy premieres on Paramount+ in early 2026.
