Paris, in the near future. Technology has conquered the last frontier: decoding true love. Digging deep into its user’s brain data, the new dating app “OSMOSIS” can find a perfect match with 100% accuracy, turning the concept of absolute soulmate into a reality. But is there a price to pay when letting an algorithm decide who you will love, forever and ever? When in exchange for this undying, ageless love, technology can access the innermost recesses of your mind — and the best kept secrets of your heart … (synopsis via The Hollywood News)

Love, sweet algorithmic love.

So ubiquitous has technology become in our lives – trying get through a day without using a computer, reaching for your phone or interacting with an app of some kind – that we’ve almost become conditioned to the idea that 0s and 1s can do just about anything.

Perhaps even help us fall in love?

Well, possibly not, ventures French TV series, Osmosis, which puts forward a world where everyone has a soulmate and it’s just a matter of a computer joining the dots and bringing you together.

Sounds so much easier than endless dates with a range of people so, let’s say, idiosyncratic, but for every too good to be true moment, there’s always a really nasty sting in the tail.

But is it one you can survive and will it be worth going through the process of computer-generated love, which might be clever but isn’t as conversant with humanity as we are?

We find out on March 29 when the series premieres on Netflix.
