“Tattoo culture is very small, loving, and supportive. My tattooer friends and I are trying our best to show everyone that tattoos are nothing less than an expression of art. …I tried to find a way to express my classical painting knowledge within a size that could fit people who can’t commit for a sleeve or big work. … I try to design as minimalistically [sic] as possible. In design, I believe that less is more.” (Eden Kozokaro, Inked Magazine via Laughing Squid)

I will be honest – when it comes to physical pain, I am a wimp.

I mean, I can handle if I have to but honestly I’d rather avoid if I can (sensible, right?) which is I will likely never get a tattoo.

Having said that, when I see tattoos as beautifully and creatively rendered as that of Israeli tattoo artist Eden Kozokaro aka Kozo Tattoo who brings vibrant colour into his skin-borne art I am tempted to take the plunge.

Almost, I said; it says something about the imaginative fun of his tattoos, which stay largely faithful to the original while having some mash-up fun too – see Rick and Morty getting their Breaking Bad on – that I come that close, frankly.

This is seriously good stuff that allows people to honour the pop culture creations they love in a way that is always with them and which, much like the characters they depict, seem to leap off the skin to greet you.
