SNAPSHOT
James Tupper and Anne Heche star In Aftermath, which follows the Copeland family (parents Karen and Joshua, and their children Dana, Brianna and Matt) as they battle for survival when civilization comes to an apocalyptic end, triggered by massive storms, meteor strikes, earthquakes, a plague – and the rise of supernatural creatures. (synopsis via Spoiler TV)

There are appears to be an apocalyptic arms race underway in TV land.

Once upon a time it was  enough to have a few spaceships blast the White House to pieces, or to have the undead rise up and demand a life outside of coffins and wakes with badly-cooked cakes.

But now, ah but now, we have to have multiple threats, a thousand different nasties coming at us at once, or those of who survive that is and it appears that syfy’s new show Aftermath is aiming to best all comers with its array of end-of-the-world threats.

Not only do we storms, earthquakes and meteors oh my but the Canadian series is also smashing humanity to pieces with supernatural creatures, demonic possession and plagues.

It looks like someone opened Pandora’s box and forgot to close it up again and everything, and I mean everything, kept whooshing on out.

Civilisation as you can imagine is screwed, and with people also mysteriously disappearing en masse, the Copeland has got their hands full racing to save the world as we and R.E.M. know it.

We will, of course, be loving every blighted, cursed minute of it.

Aftermath premieres its 13-episode first season on syfy on 27 September.
