Searching for a family adventure that won’t break the bank? Coming to Netflix this fall, In Your Dreams takes you on a fantastical journey from the comfort of your own home. In this enchanting tale, Stevie (voiced by Jolie Hoang-Rappaport) and her brother, Elliot (voiced by Elias Janssen), venture through an absurd world of their own imagination to make their family perfect again. If the siblings can withstand a snarky stuffed giraffe, zombie breakfast foods, and the queen of nightmares, their dream just might come true. In Your Dreams is directed by the animation filmmaker Alex Woo (aka Alexander Woo), making his feature directorial debut after working on many Go! Go! specials previously, and other short films. Co-directed by Erik Benson. The screenplay is written by Erik Benson and Alex Woo; from a story by Alex Woo and Stanley Moore. Produced by Timothy Hahn & Gregg Taylor. With animation by Kuku Studios and Sony Pictures Imageworks. (courtesy First Showing)
Dreams are very strange and eminently bonkers things.
Usually based on and powered by some very real concerns – I spent the minutes before waking this morning stressfully trying to work out what to blog and watching aghast as my blog posts leapt, like they were alive, from slot to slot on my site; source? I have had the flu and now pneumonia for almost a month and I have barely kept with the bare minimum for the blog – dreams draw in strange and weird mix of characters, odd settings, bizarre narrative shifts and an almost “uncanny valley” sense that things are quite normal … until they most clearly are not.
It’s fertile ground for animated storytelling, something that Pixar’s Inside Out and it spinoff Dream Productions knows a lot about, and In Your Dreams looks like it’s going to hilariously make the most of it when it debuts on Netflix on 14 November 2025.
