SNAPSHOT
The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part reunites the heroes of Bricksburg in an all new action-packed adventure to save their beloved city. It’s been five years since everything was awesome and the citizens are facing a huge new threat: LEGO DUPLO invaders from outer space, wrecking everything faster than they can rebuild. The battle to defeat them and restore harmony to the LEGO universe will take Emmet, Lucy, Batman and their friends to faraway, unexplored worlds, including a strange galaxy where everything is a musical. It will test their courage, creativity and Master Building skills, and reveal just how special they really are.

Reprising their fan-favorite characters from The LEGO Movie are Chris Pratt as Emmet, Elizabeth Banks as Lucy (aka Wyldstyle), Will Arnett as LEGO Batman, Nick Offerman as Metal Beard, and Alison Brie as Unikitty. They are joined by Tiffany Haddish, Stephanie Beatriz, and Arturo Castro as, respectively, new characters Queen Watevra WaNabi, Sweet Mayhem and Ice Cream Cone. (synopsis via Coming Soon)

Oh inspired, cleverly-written lunacy, your name is The LEGO Movie!

The first film, The LEGO Movie, released in 2014, was inspired brilliance – possessed of a fast-moving story, more quips and oneliners than a stand-up comedy festival, a gleeful sense of the absurd and the downright silly, vividly-memorable characters, a mega-meta sensibility and a willingness to be irreverent about everything.

In other words, the kind of film you want to see again and again, not simply because everything is awesome, but because there is so much to take in and to unpack with more Easter Eggs than the Easter Bunny’s storage facility. (Yeah, yeah, I hear ya – I’m kinda getting carried away by the comparisons.)

And now almost 5 years later, everyone is back with added sassy, silly dialogue that had me giggling like crazy all the way through the trailer.

While you can never be absolutely certain that something will live up to the promise of the trailer, this film has a better chance than most, powered by an initial script by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, and the spirit of the original which wonderfully and excitingly intact.

The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part opens 8 February 2019 in USA and UK and 28 March 2019 in Australia.
