Bradford, UK film critic Ross Fearnley of The Unusual Suspect has created a wonderfully edited video of The Proclaimers classic song “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” being sung using clips from 127 movies. (synopsis via Laughing Squid)
One of the most infectiously-catchy songs I’ve heard is “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” by Scottish folk/rock duo The Proclaimers which is fit to bursting with a jaunty, bright melody, seductively sung vocals and a general air of lyrical passion and bonhomie that can’t fail to move you.
It’s a near-perfect song that feels even more perfect now that it’s been as the soundtrack for a montage of clips from a whole host of films such as Toy Story, Wizard of Oz, Lion King, The King & I and Independence Day to name but five of the 127 movies used in this masterfully-fun creation.
I dare you to watch it and stay sitting down – you may not walk 500 miles since that’s a lot of pacing around your loungeroom but you will not be able to stay seated.
Strap on your sneakers and enjoy!
