In the heartwarming live-action adventure “Disney’s Christopher Robin,” the young boy who loved embarking on adventures in the Hundred Acre Wood with a band of spirited and lovable stuff animals, has grown up and lost his way. Now it is up to his childhood friends to venture into our world and help Christopher Robin remember the loving and playful boy who is still inside. (synopsis via Coming Soon)
The more trailer and posters I see for Disney’s adorable live action love story to the magical world of Winnie the Pooh, Christopher Robin and the Hundred Acre Wood, the more I can’t wait to spend some heartwarming quality time with my favourite “silly old bear”.
The latest trailer stokes this need to see Pooh and the gang even more with an emphasis on the sweet central relationship between Pooh and Christopher Robin, who rather wonderfully lends his name to the film, and how its return to the centrality of a rather grown-up Robin transform both bear and men and everyone fortunate enough to know them.
The film’s message is front and centre too, and it’s one that Disney has returned to again and again in many of its films, live and animated – the idea that we take adulthood far too seriously and that while we can’t escape it since growing up happens whether we want it to or not (unless you’re Peter Pan I guess), we should work hard not to lose our childhood sense of whimsy and fun and the special release that comes from being silly and loved.
It will indeed be a sunny day when Christopher Robin comes to play and you can find out how brightly, delightfully lovely that will be when the film directed by Marc Forster (Finding Neverland / Quantum Of Solace) opens 3 August in USA and 13 September in Australia.
