It’s beginning to look a lot like the festive season … Christmas ads 2025 round-up

I know there is a significant school of thought that rails against the materialism and rampant consumerism of Christmas.

And yes, while I can see it, and it’s valid point as far as it goes, it leaves aside the fact that much of that drives this need to buy and get and do is really rather lovely – we want to show those who matter to us that we love them and at this time of year, that takes the form of presents and food and all kinds of things that rely on the wheels of capitalism merrily turning.

Have we lost sight of the true spirit of Christmas? Maybe, but while I get all these ads can obscure mangers and wise men and selfless giving, they also spring from it too and so I choose to luxuriate in all the love and the care and enjoy the underlying spirit of these ads …
