It’s time to raise the curtain on The Muppet Show, a highly-anticipated special event with a special guest star and Executive Producer and guest star Seth Rogen. Kermit, Miss Piggy and the beloved Muppet gang are back with a brand-new special event. Music, comedy, and a whole lot of chaos are bound to ensue when The Muppets once again take the stage of the original Muppet Theatre with their very special guest, Sabrina Carpenter! Colour me excited!
From the moment I met Grover and Kermit and Fozzie and Miss Piggy and Ernie & Bert and … well, all of Jim Henson’s marvellous creations, I have LOVED The Muppets.
They are clever and sweet and goofy and insightful and just plain fun and one of the many highwater marks The Muppets have enjoyed was The Muppet Show, which ran from 1976-1981 and which ran for 120 episodes set in an old vaudeville hall where all of our favourite characters, and a host of really cool human guest stars entertained us with drama, song and comedy.
It was manic and silly and heartfelt and charming and it made my childhood sing; waiting for a new episode to drop each week – yep, it was a once a week deal, something that’s only just now creeping back into streaming platforms – was torture but oh the happiness when it did!
Having The Muppet Show back even if only for one special to celebrate its 50th anniversary – though this could be a “backdoor pilot” for a longer series so fingers and toes well and truly crossed – is a huge joy and I can only it augurs well for a much longer run very soon.
