Mystery of the week shows generally leave me cold – they’re far too formulaic and lacking in an adventurous premise and while they provide a certain viewing comfort, there’s a sense of just treading water storywise.

Not so with Poker Face, a sublimely clever and funny series that subverts the predictability of the genre and which, thanks to the combined superlative talents of Rian Johnson and Natasha Lyonne and some inspired writing, goes into some very cool and daring places while retaining a heartfelt sense of raw humanity.

That’s like all the things you could ever want in a series in one highly watchable package and yes, we will watching eagerly when Poker Face S2 premieres on 8 May on Peacock in U.S. and in Australia on Stan with the first three episodes and the remainder of the full slate of 12 episode released weekly thereafter.
