Can someone please get me a job with The Muppets promo team please?

Like immediately, if at all possible.

The calibre, wit and originality of promos pouring out of the people responsible for reminding that Muppets Most Wanted is coming to theatres soon – 27 March in USA and 24 April in Australia – is very bit as delightful and right on the zeitgeist as I am sure the movie itself is going to be.

In the latest promotional instalment, released by Disney during the Golden Globe Awards screening, irate Tweeps go back and forth railing against the fact that Muppets Most Wanted hasn’t scored a single nomination at this year’s awards ceremony.

It plays beautifully on the fact that uninformed outrage is often a staple of social media – in this case ignorance over the requirement that a film must have screened somewhere in USA before the end of the previous year to be eligible for inclusion in the following year’s awards – and makes merry with a faux battle between internet trolls and those who would meet them in cyber battle, that Muppets Most Wanted wasn’t nominated for 247 awards.

(Which if there were that many awards, it would totally and absolutely deserve #funny #awesome #bestmovieever)

It’s irreverent, tongue-in-cheek and gleefully over the top and perfectly timed for the kinds of exchanges that no doubt took place all across social media while the Golden Globes were screening.

And it will have you laughing … and faux-outraged naturally.
