There’s a joy to any animated movie which scores the perfect combo of compelling story, vibrantly and fully realised characters and some buoyant humour to balance out the more serious moments.

Many a Disney movie has had all three but one of the standouts of recent years was 2016’s Zootopia, a superlatively imaginative and funny movie that was near flawless from beginning to end and which made you wish there’d be a sequel so you could spend more time in this wonderfully brought-to-screen world.

But nine years later, and nothing so you could’ve just consigned it to one of those things that would, against all odds, be happening, only to discover, oh joy of joys, that a sequel is indeed on its way and if the spirit of the musically vivacious trailer is any guide, going to be as much as its predecessor.

We’ll have more of an idea when an actual full trailer presumably closer to the release but really we’ll only really know, and hopefully have our verdant hopes fulfilled, when Zootopia 2 opens worldwide on 26 November.
