I have loved Scooby Doo since the first time I set sight on the snack-loving goofy Great Dane and his four human mystery-solving cohorts.
There was, and still is, something inestimably wonderful about the inherent silliness of the premise, and all its many recurring jokes from the “And I would have gotten away with it too, if it weren’t for you meddling kids” to Scooby and Shaggy’s obsessive need for food to the ghosts/vampires/zombies etc that you knew were simply people in costumes but happily bought as scary creatures for the sake of the admittedly threadbare plot.
But even if, like me, you’ve watched endless episodes of Scooby Doo, including its latest incarnation Be Cool Scooby Doo, there’s lot of stuff you may not know about the show such as the fact that it was based on the characters of The Many Loves of Dobey Gillis, or that Scooby was known, almost up to air date, as Too Much.
There’s even a Frank Sinatra link in there too!
But hey don’t just take my word for it – check out Comic Alliance’s impressively-detailed Scooby Doo – You Think You Know Cartoons for more information on everyone’s favourite goofy Mystery Machine driving amateur detectives!
