Onward streaming addicts!

Yes, that includes me, not just because there are so many good programs to check out but because during the latest lockdown, which by the time of its lifting on Monday 11 October, will have run for 15 long weeks, streaming has saved my sanity and emotional wellbeing.

At a time when I couldn’t go anywhere except for exercising each morning within 5km of my home, streaming has let me roam the world, real or imagined, and escape in ways my physical circumstances simply wouldn’t allow.

Of course, even after lockdown ends, it will still offer me those unique opportunities including the chance to live viscerally through some fun retro horror and to get my anime vibe on.

Per Netflix, the series is an “action-packed space Western about three bounty hunters, aka ‘cowboys’, all trying to outrun the past. As different as they are deadly, Spike Spiegel (John Cho), Jet Black (Mustafa Shakir), and Faye Valentine (Daniella Pineda) form a scrappy, snarky crew ready to hunt down the solar system’s most dangerous criminals — for the right price. But they can only kick and quip their way out of so many scuffles before their pasts finally catch up with them.” (synopsis courtesy Flickering Myth)

There’s a brilliant ’60s vibe to the opening credits for the live-action adaptation of this anime favourite that makes me want to watch the show even though I know almost nothing about the character or the anime series.

If the episodes are even half as inviting as the opening credits, then we are in for a sensational new show.

Cowboy Bebop premieres on Netflix on 19 November.

Talk about an atmospheric teaser!

We see a happy, model 1950s family slowly succumbing to the insidious creep of the Upside Down and it looks like the plucky kids of Hawkins, Indiana are in for another fight for the soul of the world.

Stranger Things season 4 debuts in 2022, its premiere delayed by COVID-related production issues.
