When HBO decided not to renew its contract to screen first-run episodes of Sesame Street, there was a brief moment of worry about who would step in to keep kids learning their ABCs and 123s with the likes of Grover, Big Bird and Elmo.
Thankfully, Netflix stepped in to fill the contractual void, and now the best educational show on TV, which has been around since 1969 and has just started its 56th season on air, has a new home.
Which, of course, means that along with having somewhere to continue to do what they do best, the likes of Grover and the Count can also broaden their horizons and maybe shoot for some cool extracurricular work.
Quite what they might be comes to hilarious light in this gloriously good video of various Sesame Street characters trying out for a range of Netflix’s cult shows with some typically offbeat outcomes, which reflect the show’s sense of humour and its willingness to have some fun at its own expense.
