Lupita Nyong’o readily admits in this featurette that she does not like cats.

DOES. NOT. LIKE. THEM.

Which is kind of a problem when her character in A Quiet Place: Day One most certainly adores them; thankfully, not only is she a consummately talented and professional actor who puts that aside to do justice to her role in the film as an apocalyptic survivor but during the filming of the movie she actually grew to like them.

That is of course proof of the innate lovability of cats – yes, this blogger absolutely adore them – but it also speaks to how in the midst of terrible and horrific calamity, you want a kitteh by your side.

They won’t fix things but they may make it all feel just a little bit better …

Whether that works in this context will be palpably apparent when A Quiet Place: Day One releases 26 June in U.S. at the Tribecca Film Festival and 27 June in Australia.
