Bridgerton‘s Nicola Coughlan will be starring in the title role of “Joy to the World” as a traveler checking into a London hotel over the festive period. Before long, Joy’s quiet holiday is interrupted by a Silurian wandering into her hotel room and the sudden arrival of The Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) to take her on a time-travelling adventure. Doctor Who and Christmas! You just know while the rest of us are sitting down to yummy food, fun times with friends and family, and tinsel and trees and chestnuts etc, that our time travelling hero will be doing, well, pretty much none of those things.
It’s not that he doesn’t want as his return as the Tenth Doctor (David Tennant) in the series of specials that kicked off the adventures of the new Doctor, played by Ncuti Gatwa earlier this year, beautifully and affectingly showed, but time has a way of interrupting the best laid plans.
And dinosaurs; they also have a way of upsetting apple carts but how exactly? Well, you’ll need to watch the trailer for this year’s Doctor Who Christmas special to find out but suffice to say it looks like it’s going to be a lot of scary, timey-wimey festive fun!
“Joy to the World” premieres on, quite likely, on 25 December.
