In many ways this was a very good year for my consumption of TV/streaming shows.
I got to watch a lot more than 2023 but while lists were ticked off and shows enjoyed, it also began to feel, not for the first time, like watching TV is now more a job than a relaxing pursuit.
It used to be you’d turn on the tele and enjoy your favourite shows, catch some others and that would do, but with the explosion of programs available via streaming platforms, there are so many options out there, many of them very good, that you can end up feeling FOMO’d out of your ever-loving streaming brain.
Not exactly relaxing, right?
So, while I tried to get to some of the big ticket shows, I missed a lot of others and you know what? That’s okay.
While I want the blog to be cutting edge and on the money, at the end of the day, I want to enjoy what I’m watching and if that means some shows, many shows in fact, go by the wayside, then that’s okay.
I’ll enjoy what I get to and my mental health will be intact, and honestly, that’s a better outcome by far …

And what do Flicks think are the best shows of the year? Not a lot of the ones I picked but then I ran out of time for the longer, more intense dramas they loved and I hope to rectify that next year with some catch-up viewing.
