Hanging onto your childhood dreams and sense of imagination is tough.

Tough, but not impossible, as Nicholas Arioli’s utterly-charming animated short film, Coin Operated makes beautifully clear.

In the film, which has screened at a slew of film festivals worldwide including Cine Kid Film Festival, Spark Animation Festival and Palm Springs Intl Shortfest, where it received the audience-nominated “Best Animated Short Film”, one young boy holds fast to his rocketship dreams through 70 long but dedicated years.

It might seem like an oddly-quixotic dream but it is delightful and heartfelt and, honestly, quirkily inspirational, complete with the kind of animation that pleases the eyes while touching the heart.

Moral of the story? Hold fast to your dreams and see where they take you, no matter how much time passes.

The payoff could be out of this world.
