“After a brief ten-year hiatus, Futurama has crawled triumphantly from the cryogenic tube, its full original cast and satirical spirit intact. The 10 all-new episodes of season 11 have something for everyone. New viewers will be able to pick up the series from here, while long-time fans will recognize payoffs to decades-long mysteries – including developments in the epic love story of Fry and Leela, the mysterious contents of Nibbler’s litter box, the secret history of evil Robot Santa, and the whereabouts of Kif and Amy’s tadpoles. Meanwhile there’s a whole new pandemic in town as the crew explores the future of vaccines, bitcoin, cancel culture, and streaming TV.” (courtesy Gizmodo)

What will be the future look like in 1000 years?

That is assuming, of course, we have one since we seem pretty sure we’ll be claimed by climate change, environmental collapse, alien invasion, zombie apocalypse, war or … honestly the list seems alarmingly endless … but IF we make it, then let’s hope the world is as much fun as Futurama‘s take on it.

Back for an 11th season after a huge gap due to various cancellations and reruns, the animated sitcom is full-to-bursting with entertaining characters, witty dialogue and a sense of the reality-parodying absurd that still sits well in a world that needs someone to poke lots and lots AND LOTS of fun at it.

LOTS and LOTS.

Thankfully that’s what Matt Groening’s futuristic workplace romp does beautifully and will do once again when Futurama season 1 premieres July 24 on Hulu and likely Disney+ in Australia.
