SNAPSHOT
It’s 1996 and Leia Forman is back in Point Place for another summer of fun with her friends and grandparents, Kitty and Red. Leia and Jay are excited to be together again after nine months of long distance. But she’s on edge since Jay still doesn’t know she almost kissed Nate. Nate is concerned that his girlfriend, Nikki, doesn’t know either. How long can they keep this secret? Turns out, not long at all. And when the truth finally comes out, relationships are threatened, friendships are at stake, and the summer is on the verge of ending before it even gets started. (courtesy Nerdist (c) Netflix)
If season one of That ’90s Show proved anything, it’s that you can indeed go back.
Both back to the ’90s which is a disturbingly long time ago now that is best not ruminated on, and Point Place, Wisconsin twenty years after That ’70s Show confirmed once and for all, and rather entertainingly too, that teenagers are going to teenage no matter the time and place.
The first season of the sequel series was a surprisingly funny and emotionally rich affair, giving us memorable characters including the very welcome return of Kitty (Debra Jo Rupp) and Red (Kurtwood Smith), some real teenagey dilemmas and a cosy sense of being with friends.
Excitingly there’s a second season, spilt in two in the offing, and the end of June can’t come soon enough … some good uncomplicated laughs would be delightful.
That ’90s Show S2 debuts on Netflix on 27 June with part 1 with the second part of the season premiering on 24 October.
