Invasion follows an alien invasion through different perspectives around the world. In season three, those perspectives collide for the first time, as all the main characters are brought together to work as a team on a critical mission to infiltrate the alien mothership. The ultimate apex aliens have finally emerged, rapidly spreading their deadly tendrils across the entire planet. It will take all heroes working together, using their experience and expertise, to save the human species. New relationships are formed, old relationships are challenged and even shattered, as an international cast of characters must become a team before it’s too late. Invasion is brilliantly good television, made all the more impressive by the fact that they have brought something fresh and compellingly engrossing to a genre that has seen multiple and mainfest iterations.
Is there anything left to say when it comes aliens invading good old planet Earth?
You might have thought not but Invasion has shown that it is possibly to say something new and to say it in ways that build up to something truly original and special.
Seasons one and two did a superb job of building up and then executing a truly terrifying threat, keeping the narrative focus firmly fixed on how real, ordinary people would react to a truly extraordinary set of circumstances and that looks set to continue with the latest season.
Invasion S3 debuts its first episode on 22 August on AppleTV+ with the remaining nine episodes released weekly thereafter.
