What if you could open a doorway and walk through it and re-live a defining moment from your past? Sarah (Margot Robbie) and David (Colin Farrell) are both single strangers who meet at a mutual friend’s wedding and soon, through a surprising twist of fate, find themselves on A Big Bold Beautiful Journey – a funny, fantastical, sweeping adventure together where they get to re-live important moments from their respective pasts, illuminating how they got to where they are in the present…and possibly getting a chance to alter their futures. A Big Bold Beautiful Journey is directed by acclaimed Korean-American filmmaker Kogonada, director of the films Columbus and After Yang previously, and eps of the series Pachinko and The Acolyte most recently. The screenplay is written by Seth Reiss. It’s produced by Bradley Thomas, Ryan Friedkin, Seth Reiss, Youree Henley. (courtesy First Showing)

Mixing a romantic comedy with the imaginative explorational richness of a novel like The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix. E Harrow, A Big Bold Beautiful Journey looks like the kind of film that will really deliver some strikingly beautiful and intense emotional moments.

In fact, it looks like the kind of thoughtfully nuanced film that makes going to the cinema absolutely worth it – you get a truly blockbuster look to proceedings but with the intimacy and heart of an indie.

Plus, you get to see two broken people find healing and love in a flawed world and who doesn’t love the hope and possibility of that?

A Big Bold Beautiful Journey releases into cinemas on 18 September in Australia and on 19 September in U.S.
