Life without Joel McHale’s upcoming book Thanks for the Money? “Meaningless”, that’s what!

I love books by celebrities.

And by that I mean clever, funny, insightful, whimsical, well-written books by celebrities that surprise and amuse, delight and make you think such as Lena Dunham’s Not That Kind of Girl: A Young Woman Tells You What She’s Learned (2014), Aziz Ansari’s Modern Romance: An Investigation (2015), Janeane Garofolo and Ben Stiller’s Feel This Book (1999), Jesse Eisenberg’s book of essays Bream Gives Me Hiccups (2015), Bonkers: My Life in Laughs by Jennifer Saunders (2013) and on and on  and on.

A whole shelf of on and on and on in fact – the multitude has less to do with a fascination with celebrity itself than a respect for the fact these people are very funny and very intelligent and say some damn good stuff – to which I will adding come November, lest I fear experiencing a “meaningless” existence, Joel McHale’s book Thanks for the Money: How to Use My Life Story to Become the Best Joel McHale You Can Be.

Meaningless? Really? Would you doubt the star of Community and The Soup, and his frequent creative collaborators Brad Stevens and Boyd Vico? Plus McHale guaranteed all kinds of wonderful things should you buy the book when he was interviewed by EW:

“Every single word is interesting, insightful, hilarious, and your life will be meaningless without it.”

And that’s not at all.

“Mine is part memoir, part self-help book. So I’m going to give you practical ways to become a celebrity and get stuff for free.”

Plus he’s funny, he’s clever, he’s insightful and Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without another inspired tome by a celebrity on my shelf.

Speaking of which it’s time to get a bigger shelf … or a new bookshelf … and a house to put them in …
