A little fox. A flying saucer. An alien world. A journey that will change his life forever. The Saga of Rex is written and directed and animated by animation filmmaker Michel Gagné, making his first feature film after many shorts. He has also worked on VFX and animation on many projects including The Incredibles, Ratatouille, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Piece by Piece, Ray Gunn, and many others. Labours of love are truly inspirational things.
And they honestly don’t come much more impressive, at least in this present moment than The Saga of Rex which is the work of one man pursuing his passion project in-between being a part of a slew of highly-lauded animation projects.
The trailer is a visual and emotional delight, and I can only hope it finds distribution everywhere because I absolutely need to see this, luxuriate in it and feel all the feels that will inevitably follow.
The Saga of Rex is due for release in 2027; according to First Showing, however, “no release dates or festivals are set yet”.
