SDCC trailers (mostly)! Woke, Truth Seekers, Bill & Ted Face the Music, Lovecraft Country, Utopia

Goodby San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) in real life! Hello SDCC online!

In common with many other COVID-19 unfriendly, crowd-heavy events this year, SDCC has let slip the bonds of convention facilities and hotels, and gone online with a host of panels and trailer reveals.

It may not quite be the fun fest of old but at least it’s here in some form and for that we should be grateful, along with being delighted by all the tantalising trailers being released (including ones for Fear the Walking Dead and The Walking Dead: World Beyond featured elsewhere on this blog).

There’s not quite numbers of old trailers-wise but there are still some nice, tasty morsels of viewing delights to come from which I’ve selected the four that excite me the most, along with a ring-in because I can … enjoy!

The eight-episode series will follow a team of part-time paranormal investigators as they travel across the UK in search of evidence of the supernatural. However, it’s all fun and games with their homemade gadgets and comedic hijinks until – according to the official synopsis – “they begin to uncover a conspiracy that could bring about Armageddon for the entire human race.” (synopsis courtesy Games Radar)

Truth Seekers premieres on Amazon Video in the northern Autumn.

Keef must now navigate the new voices and ideas that confront and challenge him, all without setting aflame everything he’s already built. (synopsis via Spoiler TV)

BILL & TED FACE THE MUSIC

SNAPSHOT
Bill & Ted 3 follow the bodacious bros as they struggle with the perils of ageing, fathering their teenage daughters (Samara Weaving as Bill’s daughter is pure brilliance and I’m always here for Bridgette Lundy-Paine), and reckoning with the idea that no one believes they ever time travelled and visited heaven and hell. Well, good thing aliens show up to ask them for help, and give them the chance to remind us all that being excellent to each other is a universal concept. (synopsis courtesy Games Radar)

Bill & Ted Face the Music opens 27 August in Australia and 1 September in USA.

LOVECRAFT COUNTRY

Lovecraft Country is an upcoming horror drama by Misha Green [which] stars Atticus Black (Jonathan Majors) and friend Letitia Dandridge (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) as they go on a road-trip across the United States, battling racism and Lovecraftian monsters. The trailer is dark and atmospheric, promising one seriously spooky show. (synopsis courtesy Screenrant)

Lovecraft Country premieres on HBO on 16 August.
