Download. Play. Dance. Sing. My 20 favourite songs of 2022

I love music – all kinds and at all times.

It is the literally the soundtrack to my life, making my exercise sessions more bouncy, melodic and upbeat, my commutes feel almost fun (and that takes some doing!) and those times when the world seems a little (or a lot) too dark and I wonder how I’ll ever deal, feel like maybe they aren’t so oppressive, after all.

It’s how I find expression, lyrically and musically, with so many talented music artists seemingly able to channel what I am thinking and feeling and doing it in such a way that I can take what its essentially aural therapy and walk around with it, always reminded why something matters or that other people, and this matters, are going through the same thing I am.

It lets me let it all out and dance and have fun and pretend that all those childhood fantasies of singing up on stage (which let’s face it were never going to translate into adult real life; turns out I prefer writing a whole lot more) are real and that I am living all those dreams where I accomplish great and amazing things.

It’s singable, its danceable and it makes my life in finitely better and so I’ve picked 25 songs which made this year of too much work and lots of therapy and massive overcommitment (I’m an extrovert – it comes with the territory) pretty wonderful, and if that wasn’t possible, then not sucky which will do …
