The bounty of streaming continues!

True, finding the time to watch it all is a challenge – I’m not sure when TV went from escapist fun to a timetabling-intensive pursuit but here we are – but with so many great shows to watch, it’s the kind of challenge you definitely want to overcome.

In this post, AppleTV+ keeps its rep for clever but accessible shows well and truly intact …

In The Studio, Seth Rogen stars as Matt Remick, newly appointed head of embattled Continental Studios. As movies struggle to stay alive and relevant, Matt and his core team of infighting executives battle their insecurities as they wrangle narcissistic artists and craven corporate overlords in the ever-elusive pursuit of making great films. With their power suits masking their never-ending sense of panic, every party, set visit, casting decision, marketing meeting & award show presents them with an opportunity for glittering success or career-ending catastrophe. As someone who eats, sleeps and breathes movies, it’s the job Matt’s been pursuing his whole life, and it may very well destroy him. The Studio is a series created and directed by comedy masterminds / filmmakers Evan Goldberg & Seth Rogen, both directors of This is The End, The Interview, and episodes of Preacher previously. It’s also created and written by Alex Gregory, Peter Huyck, Frida Perez, with Goldberg & Rogen. Showrun by Alex Gregory & Peter Huyck. Executive produced by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Alex McAtee, Josh Fagen, Alex Gregory, Peter Huyck. (courtesy First Showing)

The Studio debuts its first two episodes on AppleTV+ on 26 March with episodes released weekly thereafter until 21 May.

Government Cheese is a surrealist family comedy set in 1969 San Fernando Valley that tells the story of the Chambers, a quirky family pursuing lofty and seemingly impossible dreams, beautifully unfettered by the realities of the world. When Hampton Chambers (David Oyelowo) is released from prison, his family reunion doesn’t go quite as he’d planned. During his absence, Hampton’s wife, Astoria (Simone Missick), and sons, Einstein (Evan Ellison) and Harrison (Jahi Di’Allo Winston), have formed an unconventional family unit, and Hampton’s return spins their world into chaos. Government Cheese is a fun series created and directed by writer / filmmaker Paul Hunter, a music video director since the 90s making his first ever real series. With writing by Aeysha Carr and Paul Hunter. All episodes are directed by Paul Hunter. Made by Yoruba Saxon Productions, Ventureland, Macro TV Studios, & Apple Studios. Executive produced by David Oyelowo, Aeysha Carr, Paul Hunter, Charles D. King, Marta Fernandez, and Ali Brown. (courtesy First Showing)

Government Cheese begins streaming on AppleTV+ on 16 April.
