Want more shows to stream even thought time is tight and you still haven’t watch about 2/3 of this year’s “Must Watch” list? (Or is that just me? Could be just me!)
Well, the various streaming platforms have more shows, WAAAAAY more shows and among them are these two gems which manage to go dark, to wholly different degrees but with some escapist whimsy and fun built into the recipe.
So, you get life (or death) in all its searing hellishness and playfulness in one delightful to watch show … or shows … what’s not to love?

After their beloved doorman, Lester, dies under suspicious circumstances, Charles, Oliver, and Mabel refuse to believe it was an accident. Their investigation plunges them into the shadowy corners of New York and beyond — where the trio uncovers a dangerous web of secrets connecting powerful billionaires, old-school mobsters, and the mysterious residents of the Arconia. The trio discovers a deeper divide between their storied city they thought they knew and the new New York evolving around them — one where the old mob fights to hold on as newer, even more dangerous players emerge. Oh how I love this show!
It’s escapist, silly and fun on one hand but so full of heart and humanity and some really searing emotionality on the other, with some good old sleuthing thrown in for good measure.
Having a show with that kind of mix allows you to run away from the world while still keeping in touch with some really weighty issues of what it means to be human.
I don’t care what else is happening on the premiere date – you can rest assured I will be reacquainting myself with Charles, Oliver and Mabel as they do their best to get justice for doorman Lester!
Only Murders in the Building S5 premieres its first three episodes on 9 September on Disney+ with the remaining seven episodes released weekly until 28 October.

The dark and deliciously twisted second season is set to pick up where it left off. Now back at Nevermore Academy, Wednesday Addams finds herself at the centre of a new mystery, one that’s far more personal and dangerous. As she navigates an increasingly tangled web of secret societies, betrayals, and visions, Wednesday must confront a chilling prediction: her best friend Enid is fated to die. Can Wednesday change destiny to save her? We’ll see when season two comes out… (courtesy Maria Claire Australia)
Full disclosure – life has been so busy that I haven’t had time to watch Wednesday season 2 part 1 BUT that doesn’t stop me from talking about season 2 part 2 (though I have refrained from watching said trailer because #SPOILERS!).
Gotta say though that the buzz around the release of the S2 Part 2 trailer makes me excited to watch Wednesday S1 Part 1 this weekend!
After all, on a bright and sunny Sydney weekend day, who doesn’t want a little Addams Family darkness?
Wednesday season 2 part 2 premieres on 3 September on Netflix.
