SNAPSHOT
Haters Back Off! is a television comedy series starring Colleen Ballinger, based on her character Miranda Sings, that centres around “the oddball family life of Miranda Sings, an incredibly confident, totally untalented star on the rise who continues to fail upward by the power of her belief that she was born famous – it’s just no one knows it yet.” (synopsis via Wikipedia)

Ever the getting that you’re under-appreciated by the world at large? That if people would only give you a chance that you’d be a great big idolised superstar?

No? Well Miranda Sings (Colleen Ballinger) is absolutely convinced of her inherent greatness and the inherent inevitability of her ascent to pop culture greatness, as this amusing exchange her and her husband makes hilariously and abundantly clear.

“Someday soon, and for the rest of their lives, the world will thank us for this.”

“Yeah, I know.”

It’s comically-exaggerated of course but it goes to the heart of what drives people from all walks of life to pursue viral cyber fame in the hope that it will change their life and make them damn near forgettable.

Just like they already are in their own, amusingly-delusional minds.

Haters Back Off! will be available on Netflix on 14 October.

  1. This looks interesting. Thanks for the tip. I think in the days of Facebook and social media and selfies we can all relate to this in one way or another. 🙂
