“Hollywood has a monster problem.” 🦑 🍌 Fresh off the worldwide blockbuster success of summer 2024’s funniest comedy, Despicable Me 4, Illumination expands its joyful animated universe with a riotous new chapter, featuring all-new characters, in the biggest global animated franchise: Minions & Monsters. This is the rambunctious, ridiculous, totally true story of how the Minions conquered Hollywood, became movie stars, lost everything, unleashed monsters onto the world and then banded together to try and save the planet from the mayhem they had just created. Minions & Monsters is directed by animation filmmaker Pierre Coffin, director of Despicable Me, Despicable Me 2, Minions, Despicable Me 3, Minions & More 1 & 2, and other animation projects. The screenplay is written by Brian Lynch and Pierre Coffin. Produced by Chris Meledandri & Bill Ryan. Made at Illumination. (courtesy First Showing)

I love me some technicolour animated mayhem, especially when it comes courtesy of the hilariously blissfully unaware Minions.

They are anarchically destructive, well meaning epicentres of chaos and an absolute joy to watch, bringing my inner child, and the actual current outer kids of my nieces and nephews, a huge amount of mirth-inducing joy.

This latest instalment in their adventures looks like it’s just what the stress doctor ordered and I can’t wait to lose myself in all the fun and chaos of Minions & Monsters when it releases on 25 June in Australia and 1 July in U.S.
