SNAPSHOT
Per the official logline, the 12-episode third season of Ted Lasso will follow the newly promoted AFC Richmond, which faces ridicule as media predictions widely peg them as last in the Premier League, while Nate, now hailed as the “wonder kid,” has gone to work for Rupert at West Ham United. In the wake of Nate’s contentious departure from Richmond, Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein) steps up as assistant coach, alongside Beard.

Meanwhile, while Ted deals with pressures at work, he continues to wrestle with his own personal issues back home, Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham) is focused on defeating Rupert, and Keeley (Juno Temple) navigates being the boss of her own PR agency. Things seem to be falling apart both on and off the pitch, but Team Lasso is set to give it — what else? — their best shot, anyway. The comedy also stars Jeremy Swift, Phil Dunster, Toheeb Jimoh, Cristo Fernandez, Kola Bokinni, Billy Harris, and James Lance. (courtesy / (c) EW)

I arrived late to the inspirational Ted Lasso party.

Feeling like I was maxed out on streaming platforms – this was back when I had four not the current seven – I had held off signing up to AppleTV+, convinced I didn’t need what it offered.

But then I started hearing about this show called Ted Lasso about the time that the second season was being doled out episode-by-episode on AppleTV+; Twitter was excited and agog about it, and everyone breathlessly talked about how funny, charming, heartfelt and just plain wondrously good it was with characters you love and adore because their hearts are so very firmly on their sleeve.

You know what – they were right.

Ted Lasso is one of those shows where the buzz and hype is justified, and where all the superlative things uttered about in tweets and on posts is true – season 1 and season 2 more than bear that out – and I quickly, near instantly fell in love with the character of Ted and the many beautifully quirky characters arrayed around him.

It helped too that I discovered how good the show is in the depths of COVID lockdowns in 2021 where I desperately some reassurance that the world could be a beautiful, inspiring place.

And more season 3 beckons and honestly everything suddenly seems brighter again …

Ted Lasso season 3 premieres on AppleTV+ on 15 March.
