Oh, the goodness just keeps coming from New York Comic Con 2022 which wrapped up just under a week ago, giving us a ton of sneak peeks at upcoming shows.
One off those trailers that thrilled and delight those present, and happily now those of online, is the teaser trailer for Star Trek: Discovery‘s fifth season – yes, can you believe we’re four seasons down already? Time is flying at warp speed! – which sends Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) and her intrepid crew on what Gizmodo rather evocatively calls an “intergalactic treasure hunt”.
Who doesn’t love racing anywhere to find an exciting prize, and it’s clear as Discovery’s crew races from alien world to alien world at breakneck speed – love that final shot in the trailer where the ship is SCREAMING along! – that there’s something really compelling to go looking for.
Season five will see Michael and her crew go an a quest across the cosmos in search of an “ancient power” that’s been lost for centuries. Indiana Jones appears to be the primary influence of the new season, as the teaser involves other hunters looking to get the treasure, shoot outs, and a bazaar. And of course, a puzzle that will almost certainly be the key to the entire adventure. (Gizmodo)
It’s an adventure that will involve some new cast members too as Gizmodo reports and will no doubt be as epically enthralling as the current flagship program of the Star Trek franchise has been in its first four thrilling seasons.
Star Trek: Discovery season 5 will arrive on paramount+ sometime in 2023.
