Notes on a scene: John Krasinki breaks down the thrilling start of A Quiet Place II

SNAPSHOT
Following the deadly events at home, the Abbott family must now face the terrors of the outside world as they continue their fight for survival in silence. Forced to venture into the unknown, they quickly realize that the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats that lurk beyond the sand path. John Krasinski directed the horror sequel, which stars Emily Blunt, Krasinski, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe, Cillian Murphy and Djimon Hounsou. (synopsis courtesy Coming Soon)

A Quiet Place II is a terrifyingly good movie.

Set in the same world of sightless, sound-hunting alien monsters as its critically and commercially successful predecessor, the film gives us both the next part of the story for the Abbott family and a tense and brilliantly executed at how the world as we know it ended in an orgy of human-chomping violence.

Now in this information-packed and often quite funny video from Vanity Fair’s Notes on a Scene series, director, writer and star of A Quiet Place II explains how a whole lot of movie magic made the film come scarily alive.

Granted there are some who prefer to leave the mystery of moviemaking alone and stay on the non-explanatory side of curtain, but for those of us inclined to see how movies come together, it’s fascinating segment that makes the opening scene of A Quiet Place II such a gripping piece of alien horror cinema.

A Quiet Place II is currently showing in cinemas.
