In [Only Murders in the Building]’s Hollywood-focused season 4 trailer, we learn that Charles (Steve Martin), Oliver (Martin Short), and Mabel’s (Selena Gomez) podcast is getting a film adaptation. And who’s going to play our lovable heroes? None other than Eugene Levy, Zach Galifianakis, and Eva Longoria. But movie stardom isn’t the only thing on the Only Murders‘ crew’s minds. They’re also hot on the case of who killed Charles’ stunt double Sazz (Jane Lynch) back in Season 3. And from the looks of the trailer, Levy, Galifianakis, and Longoria are ready to join in on the investigation.
Only Murders in the Building season 4 also stars Michael Cyril Creighton, Richard Kind, Melissa McCarthy, Kumail Nanjiani, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, and Molly Shannon. (courtesy and (c) Mashable)
Three of the most perfect seasons of TV in recent years have come courtesy of Disney+’s runaway cosy crime success, Only Murders in the Building.
In each of the seasons – see reviews of season one, season two and season three – we’ve been treated to a gloriously funny and heartwarming mix of humour, quirk, crime noir-lite and some pithy, well-aimed skewering of showbusiness, life stages and internal senses of self.
Each season not only possesses an impish Murder She Wrote/Agatha Christie vibe but they also beautifully and touchingly explore how isolating and lonely modern life can be and how even something as awful as death can be the gateway to life getting remade again.
Now Only Murders in the Building is back, complete with the most guest stars ever, all of whom look to be having a hoot hamming it up as Hollywood tries to capture the fun-filled, heartfelt dynamic of Charles (Steve Martin), Oliver (Martin Short), and Mabel’s (Selena Gomez) and comes up wanting, but not before we’ve had a lot of enjoyment from what looks like the liveliest season yet.
Only Murders in the Building season 4 debuts on 27 August on Disney+
