You have to admit, for sheer comedy value alone, that nothing beats watching someone, say Matt Damon as astronaut Mark Watney, being left alone on an inhospitable planet – guess which one? – and having to battle for survival against terrifyingly destructive odds to make it back home.
I mean, HAHA, chortle chortle, giggle giggle and so on right? Right?
Actually, no, not really but that didn’t stop the Hollywood Foreign Press Association from awarding The Martian a Golden Globe this year for, wait for it my guffaw-loving friends, Best Musical or Comedy!
Yes that actually happened which naturally invited the netizens of the world, creative as they are, to come up with some sort of delightfully creative way to justify, or at least poke some fun, at this odd decision.
Which is how the good folks at Mashable Watercooler were inspired to come up with this re-imagined trailer for The Martian which repositions it as, yes indeed, a bellyachingly-hilarious musical and or comedy.
It’s like Gene Kelly and Robin Williams finding themselves trapped on the Red Planet! Well, maybe not but it’s very funny … watch and wonder … and laugh and sing …
