Joel McHale is a very funny man.

Blessed with model-handsome good looks and spot-on comic timing, he has gifted us with humourous performances as Jeff Winger in Community, and 11 years of amusingly satirical hosting of The Soup (2004 – 2015).

And now, in keeping with the man’s gifted for satire and just plain silliness, he has released a gloriously cheesy retro-70s infomercial-style trailer for his upcoming book Thanks for the Money: How to Use My Life Story to Become the Best Joel McHale You Can Be, which promises to give us a part memoir/part self-help instructional guide to McHale’s life.

As EW details, the trailer is every bit as tongue-in-cheek as you’d expect.

“The trailer has a cheesy, DIY vibe reminiscent of a local commercial where McHale, dressed in a shorts suit, gives fans the hard sell on the book while doing casual activities such as smelling a vine, hitting a tennis ball into a basketball hoop, and slicing watermelons in the air with a sword. At one point McHale prepare his version of cereal and milk: gold coins with champagne.”

And if that’s not enough, the audiobook is going to feature some fantastic celebrity cameos, including many people McHale has worked with such as Community alumni Alison Brie, Danny Pudi, Ken Jeong and Jim Rash, and the likes of Alison Janney and Jimmy Kimmel.

You may start laughing in anticipation …

Thanks For the Money releases 25 October from G.P. Putnam’s Sons and you can preorder it from Joel McHale’s website (these orders come with a personalised greeting from the man himself).
