I am not one of those people who recoils in fear when a book is turned into a movie or streaming/TV show.

It either works or it doesn’t, and if it doesn’t, well, the book still remains as good and highly readable as ever and if it succeeds, there we are lucky to have another take on a story we know and love.

Either was you don’t lose, but I have a feeling, after watching the trailer that this adaptation of the brilliant novel by Esi Edugyan will be one of the great successes.

It will be exciting to see if this is the case when Washington Black premieres on Hulu on 23 July.
