Disney and Pixar’s Elemental is an all-new, original feature film set in Element City, where fire-, water-, land- and air-residents live together. The story introduces Ember, a tough, quick-witted and fiery young woman, whose friendship with a fun, sappy, go-with-the-flow guy named Wade challenges her beliefs about the world they live in. Elemental is directed by acclaimed animation filmmaker Peter Sohn, director of the feature The Good Dinosaur previously, plus the short Partly Cloudy, as well as work at Pixar as story consultant and production artist for many years. One of my key happy places are Pixar films.
Yes, even when they make cry a ridiculous amount – I’m looking at you UP and Inside Out just to name two – because they make you feel alive and human and a whole lot of good and wonderful things and we all need to be reminded what that feels like in a regular basis.
Elemental looks like it will also tick that particularly soul-enriching place, which is something giving we essentially just have a scene-setting teaser trailer at the moment.
That first meet-cute “hello” Ember and Wade is full of so much portentous emotion and a sense of great thins in the offing and I can’t wait to see what happens, even if that fulfillment is still months away yet.
Elemental opens on 15 June 2023 in Australia and USA on 16 June 2023.
