Whenever I see a blockbuster movie trailer, and this post is packed to the epic rafters with them, I am immediately taken back to being a wide-eyes kid who would see trailers for the likes of Star Wars: A New Hope and E.T. and get a visceral, fizzy thrill thinking of all the exciting storytelling lying on glorious wait for me.

I loved that feeling then and I love it now, and while some films will pay off while others may not, at least not fully, it’s that joy of anticipation that remains with me and makes walking in the doors of a cinema such an expectant thrill every damn time.

I can’t wait …

Wherever Marty (Chiwetel Ejiofor) goes, he can’t get away from Charles Krantz (Tom Hiddleston)… His face is showing up on billboards, signs — even on TV. What’s so special about this seemingly ordinary accountant & why does he warrant such a sendoff? Their connection includes Marty’s ex-wife, her co-worker, his neighbor, and just about everyone else they know. Chuck’s life story soon begins to unravel in front of us, going back to a childhood with grandfather Albie (Mark Hamill), who teaches him about accounting and passes on a love for dancing, all the while keeping him from a prophetic secret in the attic. The Life of Chuck is directed by acclaimed genre filmmaker Mike Flanagan, director of The Haunting of Hill House, Midnight Mass, The Midnight Club, The Fall of the House of Usher series, plus the films Oculus, Hush, Before I Wake, Gerald’s Game, Doctor Sleep. The script is also by Mike Flanagan, adapted from Stephen King’s novella of the same name. Produced by Mike Flanagan and Trevor Macy. This initially premiered at the 2024 Toronto Film Festival last year where it won the People’s Choice Award. (courtesy First Showing)

The Life of Chuck premieres in US cinemas on 6 June, in Australia on 21 August and UK on 22 August.

his action-packed new chapter sees an extraction team race to the most dangerous place on Earth, an island research facility for the original Jurassic Park, inhabited by the worst of the worst that were left behind. Five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion (released in 2022), the planet’s ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived. The three most colossal creatures across land, sea and air within that tropical biosphere hold, in their DNA, the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind. Jurassic World Rebirth is directed by the acclaimed British sci-fi filmmaker Gareth Edwards, director of the sci-fi movies Monsters, Godzilla, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and The Creator previously. The screenplay is written by David Koepp (of Jurassic Park, Carlito’s Way, Mission: Impossible, Premium Rush, Inferno, Kimi). Produced by Frank Marshall Patrick Crowley.
