Who doesn’t want all their dreams to come true?

Leaving aside if we could actually handle all that wish fulfillment, especially if you’re an 11-year-old bookworm named Providence, it’s a pretty enticing prospect and one that immediately entices a young girl who appears to not yet be sure of her exact place in the world (fair enough too – who else is certain of that at her age?).

The central character in the 2015 novel The Little Girl Who Swallowed a Cloud as Big as the Eiffel Tower by Romain Puértolas, Cloud Girl, helmed by French director Philippe Riche, looks like exactly the sort of heroine we need – someone who’s willing to take chances, doesn’t handle all the consequences that entails and learns from them, somehow changing the world along the way.

What’s not to love?

Already screening a cross Europe, Cloud Girl opens in U.S. on 8 January 2027 with o Australian releases date assigned yet.
