Mooses rule kids’ books on dental health!

It’s true – sure there are books about bears, fairies and yes even crocodile’s getting their dental health on, but moose, for reasons I am yet to fathom but naturally wholly embrace without question, are all over books educating kids on how to look after their teeth.

Is it I wonder because they are naturally photogenic creatures? Of course. Or that they have uniformly dazzling smiles? I haven’t noticed that but it’s entirely possible. Or simply, who wouldn’t want to learn about teeth from big, goofy elk who will tower over you if you so much as forget to floss? Entirely possible.

Whatever the reason, as a mooseaphile of long standing, it gladdens my heart that my favourite animal in the world is getting a whole lot of dental loving.

And if you’re wondering why I’ve suddenly noticed how popular moose are with dental educators, I started working 2 months back for the Australian Dental Association as a content writer and you can’t help but come across all kinds of things to do with teeth, gums and their care.

I’m just very happy that so many of them seem to involve moose.

Here’s a video read through of Moose’s Loose Tooth by Jacqueline A. Clarke and illustrated by Bruce McNally …

And book that queries how often you have seen moose taking care of their oral health …
