Leaving aside the fact the season count has been adjusted for worldwide streaming agreement purposes – it’s season two if you only encountered Doctor Who on Disney+, season 15 of the modern iteration if you’ve been faithfully watching for quite a few years now (it’s the 41st series since the series launched in the 1960s) – the dropping of the latest trailer is a cause for some excitement.
We have the brilliantly talented and gloriously queer Ncuti Gatwa back as the Doctor for a second run of episodes and it looks like the usual wonderful mix of the thoughtfully serious, the comedically silly, the downright scary and the heartwarming which is really a snapshot of what this series offers.
It can go comically light, it can go existentially serious, and sometimes it’s just plain baffling, but mostly it’s an escapist joy, offering up a blissfully diversionary mixed bag of genres to warm your TV watching or streaming heart.
We don’t have long to wait for the latest batch of adventures across time and space as season two/season 15 of Doctor Who launches on 12 April on the BBC in the UK and on Disney+ worldwide where available.
