Stranger than Truth: John Oliver’s releasing a book of pretend history … or is he?

“History,” said Attila the Hun, “is written by the wieners.”

Or that could be “winners”, or let’s be honest, he may not have said it at all.

Regardless of what he did or didn’t he, the fact remains that history, for all its objectively factual elements, is far more of a malleable beast than many people realise.

So malleable is that it’s entirely possible to twist just enough that they still sound believable.

It’s something John Oliver, host of HBO’s very funny, and pin point insightful news review show, Last Week Tonight, has a lot of fun with when he regales everyone with facts that may or may not be true.

All of which will be in a book that may or may not be coming out in April 2016.

It’s hard to say if any of this hilarious promo is even remotely true, but in the end it really doesn’t matter – it’s just damn funny.

Trust me – would I lie to you? (Hint: Not in this case.)
