Having pulled off a death-defying escape from Tweedy’s English farm, Ginger has finally found her dream – a peaceful island sanctuary for the whole flock, far from the dangers of the human world. Chicken Run, like all Aardman releases, was whimsically, wonderful delight when it came out in 2000.
A film that celebrate freedom and self-determination with a cast of idiosyncratically loveable characters, it’s the kind of film that doesn’t need a sequel per se, but which, if one was to pop up, would be all the richer for its existence.
After all, who doesn’t want to spend more time with Ginger, Rocky and the gang?
We all do, and that’s why it’s such a joy that sequel is indeed on the way, coming this December to Netflix, and we can enjoy the group’s madly fun but meaningful antics all over again!
To tide us over for now, we have some thoroughly delightful characters, a remind of how lovely these chickens (and a rooster and rats are) and why having them back for one more romp around the chicken coop in Dawn of the Nugget is going to be just what we need.
