In Marvel Studios’ Secret Invasion, set in the present-day MCU, Fury learns of a clandestine invasion of Earth by a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls. Fury joins his allies, including Everett Ross, Maria Hill, and the Skrull Talos, who has made a life for himself on Earth. Together they race against time to thwart an imminent Skrull invasion and save humanity.

Secret Invasion stars Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Cobie Smulders, Martin Freeman, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Charlayne Woodard, Killian Scott, Samuel Adewunmi, Dermot Mulroney, Christopher McDonald, Katie Finneran, with Emilia Clarke and Olivia Colman, and Don Cheadle.

Ali Selim directs the series and executive-produces, along with fellow executive producers Kevin Feige, Jonathan Schwartz, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, Samuel L. Jackson, Ali Selim, Kyle Bradstreet, and Brian Tucker. Kyle Bradstreet is also the head writer, and Jennifer L. Booth, Allana Williams, and Brant Englestein serve as co-executive producers. By and large, we’re used to the idea that aliens arrive in big, flashy spaceships that hover menacingly and portentously over our cities until – BOOM!!! – they blast the hell out of civilisation and we have to fight back for our very survival.

But unwanted galactic visitors of the thoroughly invasive kind also arrive undercover – think Invasion of the Body Snatchers, the humourous Men in Black, and the conspiracy-laden, short-loved Dark Skies series among many – a tradition continued by Marvel’s Secret Invasion in which we once again meet the shapeshifting Skrulls (or a renegade faction thereof) who have appeared in movies like Captain Marvel, Spider-Man: Far From Home and The Marvels (due for release 2023) and who mean to do nefarious things right under our oblivious noses.

It can’t end well … or can it?

When you have the likes of Nick Fury, Maria Hill and good guy Skrull Talos, it might end very well indeed but you’ll have a fight and a half on your hands, and hopefully, one hugely entertaining streaming series too.

Secret Invasion begins streaming on Disney+ on 21 June.
