SNAPSHOT
We see Grogu with his new Anzellan friends and using a tiny telescope as he works alongside Din Djarin. The Mandalorian’s Zeb Orrelios is back, featured in poster art that also includes Sigourney Weaver’s new character and a pair of Hutts. From toppling Imperial remnant AT-ATs to venturing into a gladiator fight where the creatures from Dejarik have become larger than life, and an impressive Hutt can be glimpsed in silhouette, the Mandalorian and Grogu are on a course for action and adventure. The Mandalorian and Grogu is directed by acclaimed American actor / writer / producer / filmmaker Jon Favreau, director of the movies Made, Elf, Zathura: A Space Adventure, Iron Man 1 & 2, Cowboys & Aliens, Chef, The Jungle Book, and The Lion King previously; creator of The Mandalorian series & director of The Chef Show. The screenplay is again written by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni; based on Star Wars created by George Lucas. Produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Dave Filoni, Jon Favreau, and Ian Bryce. Star Wars has always been my comfort place because even though there is fascism, thuggish violence and narcissistic evil, the good guys (of both genders) always win.
They might be battered and bruised but they come out on top even so, and in a world where justice is often sidelined and downright show the door, that makes for highly attractive storytelling for those of use who want evil to end up at the bottom of a fiery chasm, and to stay there.
With so many themes of justice and family and doing the absolute right thing, it’s no surprise then that The Mandalorian immediately struck a chord with me, and that I beyond happy that there’s a movie coming out to, I assume, close off this particularly rewarding piece of Star Wars storytelling.
The final trailer looks like it’s going to give us everything we could want and more, and I will be in the cinema front and centre when Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu opens in Australia on 21 May and in US on 22 May.
And go behind the scenes …
