I absolutely anyone who dares to think outside the box in any sphere.
And Bill Mudron, who hasn’t so much as stepped outside the artistic box as he has left the plant, shredded all the cardboard-making technology and burned the factory down, has created one of the most original tributes to Doctor Who’s 50th anniversary.
Here’s how he described his piece of Whovian art on his Tumblr blog:
“To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who, I drew this slightly ridiculous tribute to the Bayeaux Tapestry – I had originally intended this to be one 12-foot long image, but then I realized that if I were to ever turn this into a print that it would be impossible to frame (and difficult to view in one piece online), hence the more conventional 24×36-inch print.”
Whether you describe it as “slightly ridiculous” or as simply inspired, it is just brilliant, a more than fitting way to honour the anniversary of everyone’s favourite Time Lord which takes place today in fact.
I have chosen the zoomed-in illustrations that honour my two favourite Doctors played by Tom Baker (fourth Doctor) and David Tennant (tenth Doctor) and shall shortly be ordering these pieces of gorgously and playfully drawn art.
